I have been teaching a variety of fitness classes for over 15 years, through college and community programs. My thesis topic/project was Designing a Balance Training Program for a community setting. I studied the science and research to support creating classes that are sustainable as people age. I'm glad I received the education when I was older, because I was able to choose the classes and tailor my degree to align with my interest in Older Adult Fitness. However, I didn't pursue the formal education until later in life, and by the time I completed my Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University, I was over 50 years old.
